The child in the manger is Jesus.
You can hear his soft cry piercing the silence of the night as his young mother comforts him.
Joseph, the husband of Mary, astonished, helps her around fluffing the hay to make a soft bed for the little baby.
Mary's first born. A boy child. But the child is also God's son. He is the fulfilment of a promise long waited for.
And the angels came to worship the baby. His name is Jesus.
He grew up in favor with God and man.
He lived a fulfilled and purposeful life on earth, not afraid of this world's darkness because He came to bring us light.
He is God's light.
The salvation of our souls rests on Him alone.
Jesus. The baby.
Jesus, the promise.
Jesus, the completion.
He was born that day as the angels sang, as Mary cried, as Joseph comforted her.
The Savior of the world.
God's begotten son given to us.
A child in the manger.
God on the cross.
The one who did not stay in the tomb, but who has ascended to heaven where he sits with God the father forever more.
In the manger that night, God's face revealed to the world.
What a wonderful gift for us to behold!
"Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."
